In 1994, Hillel in the Former Soviet Union was founded through the support and vision of CLSFF in partnership with Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.
Since its creation in the Former Soviet Union, Hillel has reconnected thousands of Jews, once denied access to their heritage, with Judaism and the Jewish people. Presently, FSU Hillel includes two foundations, one in the Ukraine and one in Russia, as well as supporting community centers in seven former Soviet Republics (Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan), providing approximately 10,000 young adults a year with an opportunity to learn, explore and celebrate their Jewish heritage. www.hillel.org/about/global/fsu
