The Schusterman Family Foundation and the ROI Community of Young Jewish Innovators hosted an hour-long conference call for young adults around the world to learn about the current situation in Egypt from Middle East expert, David Makovsky.

The call offered an overview of the protests beyond what has been reported in the press, as well as an analysis of potential outcomes and the implications for the U.S.’s role in the region and for Israel. All of us here at CLSFF have been watching the events unfolding in northern Africa and the Middle East with a mixture of astonishment and trepidation. Astonishment at what people united in purpose and passion can achieve. Trepidation for the short-term safety and security of the people demonstrating and at the long-term ramifications of what the unrest might mean for geopolitical stability and Israel’s already tenuous position in the region.
