Leadership is key to creating a dynamic Jewish future.
A core part of our work is inspiring, engaging and empowering young Jews to take an active role in shaping a vibrant, inclusive Jewish future, deeply connected to Israel and committed to making the world a better place.
Central to this vision is a global Jewish ecosystem equipped to support and nurture the Jewish journeys of all young Jews, today and in the future. →Learn more about our work in the Jewish community.
We believe this ecosystem requires a strong organizational infrastructure helmed by exceptional professionals. That is why we are committed to transforming how the Jewish communal sector invests in professional and volunteer leadership.
Catalyzing a pipeline of talent development
One of our main goals is to support exceptional leaders as they build highly effective organizations that go on to have a demonstrable and positive impact on the world and, in turn, attract the very best and brightest talent at all levels.
Our success in this arena relies on two key principles:
Working at the individual, organizational and ecosystem level: We work directly with individuals to enhance their leadership capacities while also helping to strengthen talent development within organizations and across the ecosystem as a whole.
Recruiting, training and retaining: We must positively impact how the Jewish community recruits exceptional new individuals to leadership positions, trains to improve the quality of current and emerging talent and ultimately retains top talent.
Strategies for investing in talent development
We build organizational capacity by investing in high-potential organizational leaders. Some of our key initiatives include:
CareerHub: CareerHub brings together talented individuals and organizations looking to hire exceptional candidates through a suite of job-matching and professional development services. We embrace the notion of sector permeability: moving in and out of the Jewish sector. We help people in our network discover their path and learn about Jewish organizations. We also work in partnership with our grantees to understand their culture and workplace. We then serve as an intermediary or translator as we connect people to jobs and to each other. →Learn more.
Schusterman Fellowship: The fellowship is a highly selective leadership development program offering best-in-class training for executive-aimed professionals who see Jewish organizational leadership as an important way to create transformational change in the world. Fellows participate in a year-long program featuring personal assessments, intensive coaching and customized trainings. They have an opportunity to apply their learning in real-time and are prepared to assume C-suite or executive committee lay leadership positions in major Jewish organizations within the next few years. →Learn more.
Talent Alliance: The Talent Alliance is a partnership program formed to advance the recruitment, training and retention of top talent in each member organization and within the Jewish sector more broadly. It includes three member organizations: BBYO, Hillel and Moishe House, and is convened, supported and facilitated by Schusterman. →Learn more.
Recruitment Network: Our goal is to change the face of who works in the Jewish sector, strengthening the organizations we support. We do this by mobilizing a network of hyper-connecters who serve as peer-recruiters for key professional roles in the Jewish sector. We work with Schusterman partners and members of the ROI Community to identify peers and colleagues who possess great leadership potential but lack awareness of Jewish leadership opportunities, ultimately increasing the number of exceptional individuals applying for and filling key roles in the Jewish community.
Partnerships and Collaborations: We also form partnerships and collaborations to address leadership challenges in Jewish life, as well as to engage the Jewish community to adopt best practices and set standards that will make it a great place to work.
