Facing History & Ourselves
An international education and teacher professional development organization, Facing History and Ourselves' mission is to engage students of diverse backgrounds in an examination of racism, prejudice and antisemitism to promote a more humane and informed citizenry. Facing History uses historical case studies to help young people understand the importance of their choices in building a just, inclusive society and to empower them to be active citizens in their communities. Facing History serves middle and high school history, English/language arts and humanities educators. Its active global network of nearly 70,000 educators reaches over 6 million students each year. Facing History works with a range of teachers and students from diverse public, private, charter and parochial schools across the country. Sixty percent of its current work takes place in urban schools, with an ongoing initiative that aims to serve more geographically and politically diverse areas.
