The mission of Generation Teach is to build local, diverse teacher pipelines by igniting an early and deep love of teaching among young people. They partner with urban communities to offer summer learning experiences thatÊIntroduce undergraduate and high school students (62% Black and/or Latinx) to urban teaching, reverse summer slide for middle-school students (82% Black and/or Latinx) andÊdevelop professional teachers (51% Black and/or Latinx) as leaders in their schools and communities. They envision schools in which teachers and leaders reflect the students and communities they serve. They want all children to see people who share their backgrounds in positions of power. They want schools to be learning communities where children and adults thrive individually and collectively. Their summer learning programs center the experiences of people of color in our curricula, introduce undergraduate and high school students of color to teaching as a way to work for social justice and empower professional teachers to become learning leaders.
