Israel Hofsheet - Be Free Israel
Founded in 2009, Israel Hofsheet is the only nonpartisan Israeli grassroots movement whose mission is promoting freedom of religion and Jewish pluralism in Israel. Israel Hofsheet impacts public perception and participation by mobilizing all those who seek to keep Israeli society diverse, equal and free. They believe that all forms of Jewish belief and practice are legitimate and should be accepted equally by the State of Israel. Israel Hofsheet trains and educates thousands of Israelis to reclaim their civic power while upholding their Jewish values, giving them tools to ensure that Israel remains a democratic, free, and equal society. They use three strategies that all work in synergy to create an influential, grassroots movement for social change. Through public advocacy and education, activist training and grassroots organizing and nondenomination life cycle events, they strengthen religious freedom and democratic values in Israel. Israel Hofsheet is one of the most effective grassroots movement and has emerged as the leader in educating and mobilizing the public, training social change activist leaders for greater freedom of and from religion, and promoting alternative positive solutions to the most pressing challenges facing religion and state in Israel. In 2015, they incorporated with Havaya, the Center for Israeli Lifecycle Ceremonies. Havaya creates and conducts Jewish life cycle ceremonies, with a focus on weddings, that are rooted both in Jewish tradition and also reflect modern values, allowing all Israelis an important opportunity to connect to their Jewish identity at critical life junctions.
