Jerusalem Open House
The Jerusalem Open House for Pride and Tolerance (JOH) is a grassroots activist community center, established in 1997, for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities in the heart of Jerusalem. their main focuses are community building, providing humanitarian services and promoting social change. With a constituency as diverse as the city itself, JOH transcends national, ethnic and religious tensions that are typically associated with Jerusalem to build and unite a community in pursuit of the common goals of pluralism, tolerance and mutual support. Now in their 20th year, the JOH is an integral part of the social and pluralistic fabric of Jerusalem and has grown to become the largest provider of services to LGBTQ people in Israel. Members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in Jerusalem are at the forefront of the efforts to promote a more pluralistic and egalitarian Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Open House connects and empowers young people with strong civil and social awareness, and serves as a fertile ground for the realization of urban social initiatives.
