Jerusalem Season of Culture
The Jerusalem Season of Culture is an award-winning, independent arts organization created in 2010 to be a strategic force for the renewal of Jerusalem as a more vibrant, pluralistic and open city and use arts as a tool for effective social change. Through innovative, city-specific content, world-class production standards and a robust communications effort, they have played a meaningful role in what has been broadly hailed as a cultural renaissance in Jerusalem in recent years. Their signature project is Mekudeshet, a contemporary arts festival unlike any other that taps Jerusalem’s greatest natural resource—its sacredness—and redefines it as an opportunity for connection between human beings, inviting artists and audiences of every color, faith and orientation to come to Jerusalem and explore that which is sacred to them. Year round, they use artistic tools to imagine Jerusalem's acute social, cultural and political challenges as opportunities for novel thinking and action, producing experiences that showcase the potential of Jerusalem as an incubator for groundbreaking ideas that can change the world.
