Looking for an opportunity to shift REALITY in your community? Apply for a REALITY Micro Grant!

Whether you want to organize a gallery exhibit, a speaker series on Israel or [insert your idea here], REALITY Micro Grants are an opportunity to bring your peers together for an intentional exploration of the themes from our REALITY journeysIsrael, tikkun olam (repair the world), Jewish values, diversity, equity, inclusion and more.

Want to get started? Review the process below, and submit your application! Before you apply, keep the following in mind:

  • There are a limited number of micro grants available, and your idea must meet our criteria to be considered.
  • REALITY Alumni are eligible for up to $2,500 per micro grant and can be awarded up to two micro grants per calendar year.
  • Proposals must focus on young professionals (ages 22-39) and address the following themes: Israel, tikkun olam (repair the world), Jewish values, diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • REALITY Micro Grants do not include Shabbat dinners. If you're interested in hosting a Shabbat dinner, please consult our partner, OneTable. For more information regarding requirements, resources and ideas, review OneTable's REALITY webpage. Questions? Email OneTable's Marina Rostein.

How To Make It Happen

  1. Apply: Submit your application at least eight weeks in advance of the proposed program.
  2. Host: Turn your idea into REALITY.
  3. Submit: A final report of your micro grant should be submitted within 30 days (we’ll send you a link to the report just before your event takes place).
Step 1: Apply

In your micro grant application, you will be asked to provide information about your idea. Within a month of your submission, you will be notified if your application has been approved and for what amount. Then, you can start planning! Here's what we need from you:

  • Description
    • What is your idea about? Give us your pitch in 150 words or less!

  • Goals
    • What are you hoping to accomplish with your idea?

  • Audience
    • Who are you looking to impact?

  • Timeline
    • What will happen? Share your vision for what happens when. Check out a sample here.

  • Projected Budget
    • How will you use your funding? Give us a breakdown of costs, including anticipated expenses (venue rental, PR and promotion, AV equipment, materials and supplies, food, etc.) and anticipated income (participation fees, in-kind and monetary donations, etc.).

    • Please keep in mind for single day events, no more than up to $50 per participant will be awarded. REALITY Micro Grants cannot be used to fund travel or personal expenses such as salary for the organizer. Funds are intended to be reimbursement for items such as food, program materials, speaker fees and venue rental that enhance the experience of being together.

Step 2: Host

During and after your REALITY Micro Grant, organizers are asked to do the following:

  • Share highlights on social media by using #REALITYIsrael and tagging REALITYIsrael on Instagram.
  • Encourage your guests to do the same. 
Step 3: Submit

Submit your report within 30 days of the conclusion of your REALITY Micro Grant in order to receive your reimbursement. No funds will be distributed if your report is submitted past this deadline.


  • Payments will be made as reimbursements and will be based on approved funding amount and actual expenses incurred.
  • Receipts and signed contracts will be required in order to receive payment.
  • All payments will be made via PayPal upon completion of the program.
  • Funds will only be distributed to one recipient.
