We know that social distancing can be hard, especially for those who enjoy being in community with each other.

We encourage everyone to practice self-care and take steps to maintain your physical, mental and emotional well-being. We are also finding new ways to keep this community connected online. We are excited to bring you this Virtual REALITY portal to house all upcoming REALITY alumni-led virtual gatherings, meaningful resources and initiatives from our grantees and partners, and access to COVID-19 Response Micro Grants.

We are so inspired by all the amazing content you are creating to lift people up during these difficult times. Please email Melanie Weintraub with any upcoming events you’re hosting, content you’re creating or initiatives you’re spearheading.

Volunteer Opportunities

IsraAID is an Israeli-based humanitarian aid agency that responds to emergency crises and engages in international development around the world. They are currently looking for volunteers to help support communities affected by COVID-19. If you live in the Los Angeles area and are interested in joining them to pick up, pack and ship to support local food distribution services, please see here.

On Tuesday, April 21,  GiveDirectly, Fresh EBT and Stand for Children launched Project 100, a $100 million cash assistance campaign that aims to get $1,000 to 100,000 families in dire need of assistance amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 100 days. The Schusterman Family Foundation is proud to support this important work in partnership with a broad and diverse network of national leaders. We invite you to check out Project 100, to consider making a contribution and sharing it with your networks.

Virtual REALITY Gatherings

Wednesday, June 3

  • Leadership Dilemmas: 12 PM ET
    • The REALITY community gathers some of the most talented and innovative minds in leading industry sectors. As we find our way out of this pandemic, many of us are looking for answers - what is my next step? How do I show up for those who need it most? How can I gear up to repair a broken world?
    • Just as we did on our journeys, the leadership dilemmas exercise is an opportunity for us to consult with our peers and take a deep look inside to better understand where we can apply our leadership and talent. Sign up to join us for a cross-community leadership dilemmas exercise and REALITY staff will create a specially curated three-person consultation team on Zoom.

Ongoing Opportunities

  • Skills for Impact
    • Our partners at Repair the World have launched Skills for Impact, an accessible way for you to connect with nonprofits virtually and help meet urgent community needs. Through the platform, you can find virtual volunteer opportunities to support those working on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic. By signing up for a project, or even just hopping on the phone to give advice to a nonprofit in need, you can donate your time and talent to support impactful service organizations doing critical work during this time.
