Jewish Food Society
The Jewish Food Society provides a platform to engage with Jewish culture through food. They believe that recipes, and the stories behind them, carry the marrow of who we are as individuals, as families and as a people. They share these stories through their digital recipe archive, pop-up dinners, special events and their signature live storytelling production, “Schmaltzy."
Their goal is to preserve beloved Jewish foods and to celebrate new ones. They're as likely to share a grandmother’s Old World kreplach recipe on their website as they are a newfangled maple-glazed challah from Vermont. What they have in common is this: They tell the stories of how Jewish people live and love, how they celebrate and mourn and the way they cook and eat.
For both Jews and non-Jews, the Jewish Food Society provides a low barrier to engagement with Jewish life while facilitating positive connections to Israel and highlighting the state as a center for world-class culinary creativity.
