Equity by Design
Through more equitable policies and practices, we can increase the diversity of the educator workforce and better support all students.
Studies show students of color do better academically when a teacher of color is present. And yet, teachers of color are significantly underrepresented in the workforce due to historical policies and structural racism.
We aim to change that by investing in efforts to:
- Increase the number and retention of teachers and school leaders of color;
- Decrease inequitable school policies and systems that make it harder to attract and retain a diverse staff; and
- Remove inequitable policies and practices that hinder students of color from accessing quality instruction.
