Teachers are more effective and, importantly, more likely to extend their teaching career if they receive professional training.
That is why we invest in innovative programs that are providing teacher candidates with content-rich and practice-based preparation. We also support technical assistance providers that are partnering with traditional schools of education to offer high-quality preparation that will improve outcomes.
Finally, we invest in efforts to build the pipeline of high-caliber, diverse people entering the profession, including support for summer teaching programs. Across our investments, we emphasize efforts to recruit, prepare and graduate greater numbers of teachers of color.
Through this work and our investments in complementary research, we hope to build the field and evidence base for high-quality teacher preparation so all teachers receive the training that will best prepare them to lead classrooms where rigorous learning occurs.
