The international staff in Nepal work together to implement Tevel b’Tzedek’s vision for service learning programs for Israelis and members of Jewish communities worldwide. Tevel is looking for a staff member who can lead and manage the international team starting August 2017 and coordinate all volunteer programs running in Nepal. The position requires a minimum of a 1 year commitment. Further opportunities for professional advancement in the organization, including additional roles in Nepal and/or Israel

General role requirements:

  • Commitment to Tevel’s values
  • Willingness to work with volunteers and staff in the field, including in rural locations in Nepal
  • Willingness and capability to lead the Israel staff through personal, emotional and professional processes
  • Formal or informal education and group facilitation background including experience in preparing lesson plans, with preference for experience in the following fields: Social leadership, Judaism and socio-economic justice
  • Strong intercultural skills and willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent inter-personal and teamwork abilities, patience and desire to get to know new people
  • Experience in managing and leading a team- advantage
  • Experience working in a developing country or a multi-cultural environment- advantage
  • Experience in relevant development fields such as: education, youth movements, women’s empowerment, social work
  • Self-confidence and public speaking aptitude
  • Strong verbal and writing skills in Hebrew and English including the ability to lead activities in either language
  • Competence in computer skills
  • Organized and methodical, assertive, innovative, strong work ethic and willingness to work in a dynamic framework
  • Graduate of a Tevel program – strong advantage

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

Professional content manager of the international staff in Nepal: 

  • overseeing goals, practice and evaluation of the volunteering programs
  • Developing content and training staff for the different programs
  • Taking an active role in the Nepal management team
  • Building positive joint work models with Nepali colleagues

Administrative coordinator/manager

  • Managing the yearly work schedule and timeline
  • Participation in planning of the community development work plans
  • Responsibility for coordination and implementation of all back office support for the various volunteer programs
  • Planning, coordinating and implementing special programs and programs for visitors

Coordinating and managing the international staff:

  • Overseeing staff tasks and responsibilities to achieve the organizational goals
  • Personal, emotional and professional guidance for every staff member
  • Handling and managing the professional frameworks of the international team
  • Guiding and facilitating the team dynamics
  • Liaison to the Israeli office

Starting Date: August, 2017. Training in Israel during July 2017.

Scope: Full-time

The organization will cover all living expenses, one round-trip flight to Israel, medical insurance, visas and a modest salary.
