Experience Urban Nepal in One of Kathmandu's Most Needy Communities
The Tevel b' Tzedek community center in the Kalimati neighborhood works with a variety of groups from different social classes, and works with them to build a strong and cohesive community. Volunteers work directly with immigrants, women and urban youth to help them overcome problems such as social gaps, poverty and human rights.
How to apply:

2. Relevant candidates will be contacted for an interview (in-person in Israel or Nepal or via Skype in other locations)
3. Accepted participants will provide medical and legal clearance
4. After receiving final acceptance participants will sign a contract of commitment to secure their place in the program.
The program requires a minimum stay of 2 months that can be extended to up to 5 months. It includes a training day in Israel and several orientation days in Katmandu, that inclue language classes, Nepali culture and issues such as globalization, developing countries and community work.
After the orientation, the volunteers begin work at the community center with the local staff in programs such as women empowerment, working youth and early childhood education.
This program costs $350 a month. This sum covers food, travel, accommodations and a small donation to the Kalimati community center. This cost does not include flights, medical insurance and visas.
This is a tailor-made program and starting dates are flexible. Applications are open throughout the year except for June-August when the program is closed due to the monsoon season in Nepal
