Wexner Graduate Fellowship / Davidson Scholars Program: Leadership Development for Jewish Communal Professionals in Graduate Schools
Wexner Graduate Fellowships are awarded each year to 20 outstanding individuals who seek to prepare themselves through graduate training for careers in the Cantorate, Jewish Education (Davidson Scholars), Jewish Professional Leadership (Davidson Scholars), Jewish Studies, and the Rabbinate.
If you are in your first year of full-time graduate school or applying to study full-time in the upcoming summer or fall, you may be eligible for the Wexner Graduate Fellowship/Davidson Scholars Program.
Program and Educational Overview
Wexner Graduate Fellowships are granted to exceptional candidates with a strong personal commitment to the Jewish community, a record of demonstrated excellence in academic achievement, and the potential to assume significant professional leadership roles in the North American Jewish community. All Wexner Fellows will participate in four years of Fellowship-wide Institutes and gatherings*, regardless of funding status, as follows:
- Orientation (first year): May 6-8, 2018
- Leadership learning calls (first year): monthly peer consultations, by phone
- Summer Institute (every year): August 19-24, 2018; August 19-23, 2019; mid-late August 2020; mid-late August 2021
- Winter Institute (every year): January 14-17, 2018; January 20-23, 2019; January 19-22, 2021, January 17-20, 2021
- Mid-Fellowship Retreat (third year): five-day program, usually second week of November, over Shabbat
- Capstone Program (fourth year): two-day program, held in Columbus, OH
*Dates subject to change.
These programs build a cohesive community of Fellows while enhancing the leadership skills of each individual Fellow. All Fellows are afforded unique opportunities for ongoing interaction with outstanding Jewish leaders and for extensive collaboration with one other. Fellows receive leadership training, peer support, professional mentoring, and networking across career choices and denominational affiliations, both during school and throughout their lives.
The Wexner Graduate Fellowship/Davidson Scholars Program experience extends well beyond the four-year leadership program. Our extensive alumni network serves as a professional community throughout Fellows’ careers.
After reviewing the eligibility page, scroll down to complete the eligibility form. This is the first step of the application process, and required for all interested applicants.
If your eligibility is confirmed, you will receive an email with instructions for the full application process. Please note: It may take several days to confirm your eligibility, so we encourage you to fill out the eligibility form as much in advance of the application deadline as possible to allow for both the eligibility approval process and time for you to complete the full application (see application requirements). All applications (including re-applications) are due MONDAY, JANUARY 22, 2018 AT 10:00 AM (EST).
Please note: The application process for the Wexner Graduate Fellowship and Davidson Scholars is one and the same. Davidson Scholars are Wexner Fellows in the fields of Jewish Education and Jewish Professional Leadership. The selection process is conducted under the auspices of The Wexner Foundation and all fellows are considered “Wexner Fellows.”
If you have questions about the application process, please contact Linda Smith, Senior Administrator of the Graduate Fellowship/Davidson Scholars Program, at [email protected].
