Meet ROI Community's new Grants Administrator, Talya Levin

Take this opportunity to get to know Talya through a short Q&A:

Talya, can you tell us your life story… in less than 60 words? Ready? Go!

Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee by South African parents. Moved to New York after undergrad at the University of Maryland (go Terps!). Got a job in the Jewish community and was hooked. Made aliyah in 2006, got my MA in Community Leadership & Philanthropy Studies from Hebrew University in 2009, and have enjoyed being a “professional Jew” ever since!

How will you be filling your days now that your with ROI?

I will be filling my days learning about the amazing opportunities and fascinating initiatives ROIers are coming up with, and helping you all bring them to fruition! I am responsible for managing the grant making process start to finish—from application to payment—and am here to ensure that you maximize your benefits and have a great experience doing so.

What's something that inspires you?

Being a part of the modern State of Israel and the modern city of Jerusalem—the great Jewish experiment of our time. It’s complex, nuanced, fraught and incredible.  As my dear family friend “Uncle” Alvin says, “Moses didn’t merit to see the Promised Land, and can you believe they just let me in the front door?!”

Who is your doppelganger?

A cross between Ginnifer Goodwin and a Cabbage Patch Kid.
