Many of us in ROI Community live by Hillel’s saying; “If I'm not for myself who will be? But if I am only for myself, who am I? And if not now, when?” We should never forget the first part, that to take better care of others, we should take better care of ourselves, and not postpone it to tomorrow.
As we go on with our lives, creating and building projects, and helping our peers and communities, we tend to forget one person: ourselves. This is what happened to me over the course of 2016, I was close to burning out. For me, taking care of others is a reason to live, so I’ve asked myself, why would I, how could I, stop? Well actually I didn’t have to. I just had to learn how to better manage my energy and take care of myself. That’s why when I received ROI newsletter offering to join The Energy Project in San Diego and I realized that now is the time.
Though I’ve been developing my personal skills for years, and have been trained to use numerous tools for better “knowing” and managing myself, this seminar was definitely a milestone in my journey; enlightening, inspiring and transformative. After the seminar, like many fellow participants, I started changing the way I manage my tasks, schedule, and relationships. The changes I made were minor but the effects were major. Methods to avoid feeling drained of energy, to renew inspiration and motivation, and an understanding of why multitasking is unproductive and “bad” for you, are among the many practical tips I’ve taken back to Paris and that I will take with me wherever I go next.
My first thank you goes to the Schusterman Foundation for (once again) making it possible for me to attend such a transformative seminar. My second thanks goes to the other participants for their kindness, and my third, to one of the participants for taking me to see the seals at La Jolla on my way back to Europe!
If you want to better manage your resources and your energy, be it physical, emotional, mental or spiritual, this is the right kind of seminar for you, so be on the lookout for the next one. It will help you be the change you want to see in the world and live by Hillel’s words by taking better care of yourself in order to better take care of our world.
