TNTP is a national nonprofit that believes America's schools can offer all children an excellent education. TNTP’s mission is to end the injustice of educational inequality by providing excellent teachers to the students who need them most and by advancing policies and practices that ensure effective teaching in every classroom. Since TNTP’s inception, their work has been guided by a simple theory of action: If schools serving low-income students provide excellent teachers and teaching, every school day, in every grade and subject, then student learning will dramatically improve and the achievement gap will vanish.
In addition to having access to effective educators, many additional factors influence the quality of a child’s education, including rigorous learning standards, access to engaging academic content, invested families and communities and supportive education policies. They believe that they can make the most progress toward their mission by providing a suite of support services that brings the following areas of work together: rigorous academics, talented people and supportive environments.
TNTP works with states, districts, charter networks and schools to diagnose their most pressing needs, identify the supports that will help them accomplish their goals and provide customized strategic and implementation support. Everything they do centers on improving student learning as they strive to create classrooms, schools and systems that foster excellence in teaching and learning for all students.
