Agam Rafaeli Farhadian
Agam is a technologist by trade, a social activist in action, a practicing citizen of Israel, the father of one child and husband to an amazing woman. His tech career began during he service in the IDF’s military intelligence unit, where he still serves as a major in the military reserves. Currently a software team leader at Armis Security, a prominent Israeli cybersecurity startup, in his spare time Agam volunteers in the Jewish Agency’s subsidiary Israel Tech Challenge as a mentor to new immigrants who wish to enter the Israeli hi-tech world. Agam also works continuously on multiple open source coding projects such as Material-UI and Ushahidi.
After becoming a father he founded the Urban Dads Tel Aviv online community, which encourages fathers to make fatherhood a conscious and active part of their lives. In this capacity he created a media presence and made relevant information accessible to fathers. In addition to these activities, Agam is chairman of the executive board at the Public Knowledge Workshop, an Israeli NGO working to promote government transparency through the use of open source technologies;the founder of House of Genius, a series of invite-only meetings that enable ventures to receive confidential support from the top minds in the Israeli ecosystem. Agam; head of a Wikipedia editing social business; and, in 2013 he founded CodeM3lim (Code Mualim), an Arabic-language online school for coding that, although run from Israel by an Israeli, at its peak had 1,500 Egyptian students, and staff consisting of both Arabs and Jews.
