Agustina Gansievich Levit
Born in Argentina, Augustina, or Agus to her friends, moved to Spain with her family when she was ten. There she grew up within the small and intimate environment of the Madrid Jewish community, where she took on numerous leadership positions throughout her youth. One of these was her decision to become an active member of Maccabi HaTzair Spain, which went on to have a big impact on her life. Becoming a madricha, as part of Maccabi’s first generation of madrichim, and eventually going on to become head counselor, as well as founding its first female sport’s team, was where Agus first discovered her passion for education. After graduating from high school she spent a gap year in Israel in a program for international community leaders. This strengthened her passion for helping others, so she returned to Spain and studied social work while continuing to head the educational department of the community. Besides her volunteer work, Agus is a passionate social worker specializing in educational intervention with vulnerable young people and their families. She believes passionately in the immense potential in every person, and in the power of education to be an engine through which to generate significant change and combat inequality.
