Alana Shultz Rubin
Alana Shultz is fortunate to have inherited a strong Jewish identity from her parents and Holocaust-survivor grandparents. After receiving her master’s degree from the Jewish Theological Seminary, she has devoted her time to the Jewish community of New York City. For eleven years, she worked as the Program Director of Shearith Israel - The Spanish & Portuguese Synagogue. In this multi-faceted position, she worked to preserve the rich historic legacy of America’s oldest Jewish congregation while making the synagogue relevant for a modern generation. She created cultural programs for the community, from toddlers to seniors, while focusing on reaching the young professional demographic. Over the years, Alana has been active in many Jewish communal and philanthropic organizations, including Dor Chadash, MJE, Friends of the IDF, Innovation: Africa and JICNY. She has served as a board member and Director of Young Leadership of Jewish Life Series and the OR Movement. Currently, Alana is on the board of the Israel Academic Institute, the Am Yisrael Foundation and The Jewish Life Series. She was also an adviser to the global crowdfunding site Indiegogo. Alana has been very active in spreading the gospel of crowdfunding, raising money from the masses to support the Jewish communal world. As an advisor for Indiegogo, she helped create a partnership with the ROI Community and other projects and organizations. Alana is currently working on building her business - LOKO, kosher locusts, and AirPair, matching flying families with fellow passengers on plane to be Parents Helper and a much needed extra set of hands.
