Ambler is a Portfolio Manager on the Education Team in the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation’s San Francisco office. She manages the operational aspects of our grantmaking processes within the teacher preparation portfolio and plans the Communities of Practice.
Ambler’s education career began as a Teach For America corps member in New Orleans, where she was part of a team that founded two Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP) schools in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Ambler brought her interest in education to Teach For All, where she supported programs in the early stages of adapting the Teach For All model to their local contexts and shared lessons learned across the network. During her time at Teach For All, Ambler served as a Curriculum Specialist at Teach For India’s inaugural summer training institute in Pune, India, and trained 90 new teachers on the fundamentals of excellent teaching. She was then selected as a Presidential Management Fellow and appointed to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, where she led performance management work and, most recently, managed a portfolio of grant programs across three states and two international partners.
Ambler graduated from Goucher College with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and earned a Master’s degree in International Education from the George Washington University. Ambler serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster youth and lives in Oakland, CA with her husband and 6-month-old daughter.
