As the Dean of Upper Grades, Becca Bodenstein (Hailpern) manages the 11th and 12th grade experiences for the eldest students at the New Community Jewish High School in Los Angeles, California. As the Director of Experiential Education, she manages and develops hands-on learning opportunities for students inside and outside of the classroom. These experiences include a civil rights journey through the American South; a tikkun olam week in New Orleans, a pecuah nefesh-wilderness first-aid Shabbaton, as well as other themed Shabbatonim and travel programs. Becca also teaches a formal Judaism and the Environment text study course and manages the school's organic garden. She received a B.A. in political science and environmental studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.A. Ed. in experiential education from the American Jewish University. Becca was the track moderator for the ROI Environment track for two Summits - 2007 and 2008 and attended ROI in 2010.
