David Katz

Senior Development Officer, Shalom Hartman Institute

David Katz is originally from Dayton, Ohio, where he attended Jewish day school and Camp Ramah. David earned his degree in English from The Ohio State University, and has seven years of experience working with Jewish youth. Since May 2008, David has served as the Director of Burgh.  Based in Pittsburgh, PA, Burgh focuses on outreach and engagement for graduate students and young professionals, ages 21-29. The organization has reached out to over 800 of the estimated 2,500 emerging adults living in Pittsburgh. Burgh was most recently recognized as the best small nonprofit in the greatnonprofits.org Jewish people's choice awards.  Burgh’s goal is to create an open space for emerging Jewish adults to create community, while exploring their growing Jewish identity.
