David has come from an unconventional background, growing up outside the organized Jewish community in the English town of Northampton. David spent six years in Turkey where he became a fluent Turkish speaker, before deciding to return to the U.K. to attend university in Leicester. It was only during this time that he became involved with the Jewish community. David's participation in a MASA program following graduation took his dedication to Jewish identity and advocacy to a whole new level. In his first professional role following his return from Israel, David led a delegation of journalists to Israel during Operation Protective Edge before going on to work for both the Board of Deputies of British Jews and World Jewish Congress. Following a competitive process, David was appointed an Irish diplomat in April 2019, taking up his first role as Assistant Director in the Brexit unit at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Dublin in July 2019.
