Deby (Ziburta) was born in Mexico City to an Ashkenazi Modern Orthodox family. When she was four the family moved to Miami Beach, where they lived within the Orthodox Jewish community for five years, and Deby learned professional Cuban ballet, taekwando, and her religious bases. The family returned to Mexico when Deby was 10, but she later attended a boarding school in Atlanta, Georgia where she discovered her passion for literature, music and cinema. After high school she spent a gap year at Emunah v'Omanut Jerusalem where she studied Torah, music and art. She then attended Yeshiva University’s Stern College in New York where she obtained a B.A. in creative writing and Jewish education. During her years in New York she began playing, composing, and performing her own music in guitar and voice. During this time she also had jobs at the Weinstein Company, for the House Hunters television show, and at the Algemeiner. After graduation Deby decided to focus on her musical skills and Judaic studies. She went on to study mysticism and Chassidism at Mayanot in Jerusalem. Convinced that she had a lot to bring back home, she returned to Mexico and founded Moishe House as well as starting Responsa, a women's support group. Deby, who is now known by her stage name of Ziburta has evolved as a musician, and plays in some of the best concert halls and with some of the finest musicians in Latin America.
