Inbal is a 35-year-old architect and surfer from Tel Aviv. When she was drafted into the IDF at age 18, she chose to join a brand new combat unit, the first such unit in the IDF to include women. Inbal was inspired to do this because she believes women should take more active and meaningful roles in Israeli society. Two months into her service, Inbal was wounded in a training accident. The injury left her paralyzed from the chest down and confined to a wheelchair. She decided not to let her disability define her and chose to return to active life in society, create, change, and live life to the fullest. She has a B.Arch in Architecture from Tel Aviv University and is currently working as a freelance architect. She has traveled abroad as head of a delegation for Israel's Veteran Organization. Inbal was an avid surfer before her injury and a year ago was able to return to the sport she loves so much thanks to an adaptive surfboard that was built with the help of the Restart organization. Inspired by this experience, Inbal decided she wanted to give more people with disabilities the ability to access the beach and surf and founded Wave-ability, a community-oriented project that seeks to do just that.
