Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Jaryd moved to Cape Town with his family in 2001. A resourceful entrepreneur, Jaryd founded his first business at age 14, buying flash drives in bulk and selling them to friends and teachers. This grew into Easy Does IT, a full ICT solutions provider with clients including local government departments and SMEs in Cape Town. After matriculating from Herzlia High, he went on to the Univerity of Cape Town (UCT), where he received a B.A. in business science, majoring in finance and accounting. In addition to running his business and studying for his degree, Jaryd decided to explore his love of music and joined Nomad Productions, an audio-visual provider in Cape Town specialising in entertainment solutions for Jewish community events. During an eight-year tenure at the helm, he and his team successfully managed more than 500 events. His passion for social entrepreneurship was sparked while working as a student consultant for Siyaya, a micro-enterprise incubator creating opportunities for unemployed women in Khayalitsha, a township in Cape Town. After graduating from UCT, Jaryd joined Simpletech, a tech startup specialising in automated electronic solutions. He served as COO of Simpletch for five years, responsible for scaling the business and improving efficiencies. Jaryd runs nonprofit projects in the education sector that he believes have the power to uplift and transform peoples lives. Most recently he founded the Bursary Lottery and Trusted Interns, a collective group of initiatives dedicated to tackling unemployment in South Africa.
