Jennie Herriot-Hatfield
Jennie is a Portfolio Manager on the Education Grantmaking Team at Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies. She helps support the teacher professional learning portfolio.
Prior to joining Schusterman, Jennie taught first grade at Think College Now Elementary School in Oakland, CA. At TCN, she served as a Data and Technology Lead and a founding member of the school’s New Teacher Support Committee. While teaching in Oakland, she participated in Educate78’s Teacher Advisory Group and was a Senior Policy Fellow with GO Public Schools’ Teacher Policy Fellowship, where she co-led a team of teachers to develop recommendations for improving new teacher support in Oakland. Prior to teaching in Oakland, Jennie taught sixth grade at Crown Prep Academy and was an apprentice teacher and lead first grade teacher at KIPP Comienza Community Prep, both in the Los Angeles area. Jennie began her career in education working in fundraising and communications for the KIPP schools in Los Angeles. She was a founding staff member of the KIPP LA School Support Center.
Jennie graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in French, and she earned a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University. She is an alumna of Teach For America and the Education Pioneers Graduate School Fellowship.
