Jody Braunig began her New Orleans adventure after moving from Atlanta in 1999. She completed her Master’s in Social Work and earned a Certificate in Gerontology at the Tulane School of Social Work in 2004. For 15 years, she worked in the Jewish communal world as a community social worker. Her positions have included Adult and Older Adult Director at the New Orleans Jewish Community Center, Assistant Director of Tulane Hillel, and Director of Planning, Allocations, and Community Relations for the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans. After five years at Jewish Federation, in May 2013, Jody was hired as the Executive Director at Girls on the Run New Orleans.
Jody is very involved with the New Orleans youth sports community. Jody is on the steering committee for the New Orleans Sport for Good Coalition, Chair of the Laureus Sports for Good Coalition Measuring and Evaluation Impact Measurement working group, member of the Baptist Community Miniseries NOLA-Youth Program Quality Initiative pilot program, and takes an active role with YouthShift New Orleans and FitNOLA.
Jody and Girls on the Run New Orleans are also participating in a Gender Measuring & Evaluation Community Practice, a global online working group that will share common challenges and solutions for organizations working directly on issues of gender, especially regarding inequality and empowerment. Jody is also a board member for the National Council of Jewish Women and the Bricolage Academy Parents Association.
