Jonathan is an American-born Israeli currently living in San Francisco and a new father to Orion, a Jewish-Chinese-American boy who is learning Hebrew as his first language. Jonathan is a recognized tech leader, public speaker, and passionate environmentalist, whose love for the environment blossomed during his studies at the Environmental High School in Sde Boker in the Negev. After graduating cum laude from Harvard, Jonathan began his career as an early Android team member, bringing online the first 1 billion mobile devices. He then joined Facebook to launch their mobile platform, and helped take the company public. After working for several years in the core of innovation in Silicon Valley, Jonathan realized that dedicating his career to “Connecting People” is not truly his life’s calling and that both Google and Facebook are a part of the advertising industry. In other words, at the end of the day no matter what amazing tech he was bringing to market, his efforts amounted to “getting people to click on ads on mobile devices.” Disillusioned, and seeking a more meaningful outlet for his creative and professional focus, Jonathan founded Zendrive, a startup ($50M raised) that uses data and analytics to help make the roads more safe. Road safety is a critical issue in Israel, where more people have been killed in traffic accidents than in all the military conflicts combined. Jonathan’s goal is to build a new type of business: a for-profit company that uses the best tech and talent Silicon Valley has to offer but is governed by a clear social mission in the spirit of tikkun olam: to put an end to road fatalities all over the world.
