Jonathan Yelin

Culture Officer, Israeli Embassy in Argentina

Jonathan was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he attended a Jewish primary and high school. He then graduated from the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, with a degree in economics and history. Besides studying he used to play basketball for Hacoaj, which brought him to Israel twice to participate in the Maccabiah, once in 1997 and again in 2009. While working for different companies he started a radio show with friends, which was quite successful and ultimately led the group to found a cultural house and organize concerts, workshops, movie festivals, and parties, where he learned how to DJ. In 2010 Jonathan embarked on a year-long trip, and spent three months in South America and three traveling from South Africa up to Egypt, before moving on to Israel,  where he spent six months living in Jaffa. While there he became a resident DJ at a live music venue and organized a South American movie festival. On his return to Argentina in 2011 he founded a nonprofit called REproductora Artistica y Cultural, of which he is president. REproductora produces documentary films, organizes events such as the FELA: Festival Latinoamericano Afrobeat music festival and supports other audiovisual projects and events, functioning as a project incubator for many young professionals and entrepreneurs. Over the last ten years Jonathan has developed a career in artistic programming, working for different live music venues and public cultural spaces such as Centro Cultural Recoleta. He Currently works as Culture Officer at the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires and is doing a masters degree in Administration of Cultural & Creative Organizations at the University of Buenos Aires.
