Lior is a mother and a career woman; an activist, a feminist and a "volunteerist;" basically, a modern day juggler! Lior lives in Tel Aviv but grew up in Nazareth Illit, the daughter of immigrants. From when she was a child, Lior has been actively creating social change, rather than waiting for someone else to do so. She began as a teen, initiating meetings between Jewish and Arab teenagers, who, despite living in a mixed city, had few opportunities to interact. Since then Lior has worked to promote women’s rights and the rights of people with disabilities; to support conflict resolution and international development efforts; and to create policy change for grassroots organizations. She was awarded a research fellowship Kings College University in London where she examined the role of women in peace negotiations. Currently, Lior is the CEO of Civic Leadership, the umbrella organization of civil society organizations in Israel. The organization’s goal is to increase the third sector influence by representing its interests at the government, Knesset and regulatory levels. Identifying common issues for which there exists a single sectorial voice, Lior has succeeded in supporting members of Civic Leadership by creating a direct link to decision makers on specific issues. She is leading an innovative change in public perception, positioning the third sector as an influential factor in formulating and leading economic and social policy alongside the public and private sectors. With Lior as CEO, the organization has expanded its size, scope, and impact.
