Lizzi Heydemann, known to most as Rabbi Lizzi, founded Mishkan Chicago, a dynamic, independent spiritual community, in 2011. She was ordained as a rabbi in 2010 at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies, after graduating with Honors in Religious Studies & Philosophy from Stanford University in 2004. Lizzi was the first Rabbinic Fellow at IKAR in Los Angeles, a nationally renowned community where she apprenticed under Rabbi Sharon Brous. Since moving back to sweet home Chicago, Lizzi has been named one of the Chicago Jewish Federation’s 36 Under 36, was a Fellow with CLAL’s Rabbi’s Without Borders Fellowship, attended the 2013 Schusterman ROI Summit, and is a Covenant Foundation’s Pomegranate Award for promising early-career educators. Lizzi runs, works out, figure skates and rollerblades, is married to Henry, another Chicago native South-Sider, with whom she has two very cute kids, Judah Lev and Adira.
