Marcel studied international relations at the University of Essex in England and the University of Guelph in Canada, and is currently specializing in international security. He also spent a year learning Jewish studies at the Paideia Institute in Sweden, before heading to the University of Heidelberg to continue his studies there. He also spent time in Israel, learning Hebrew, Arabic, and Middle East history. After returning to Barcelona, Marcel worked for some time at the Public Diplomacy Council of Catalonia, which promotes Catalonia, it's culture and people, to foreign audiences, and became one of the founders of the Salam Shalom Barcelona initiative, which aims to bring together members of the Jewish and Muslim communities of Barcelona. He would eventually get further involved in the cultural world, working as an international relations consultant at Òmnium Cultural, an NGO that promotes Catalan culture, before becoming the director of the Jewish cultural platform Mozaika, which promotes and gives visibility to the amazingly rich Jewish culture, both historical and current, of Barcelona and its surroundings.
