Mishy is a curly-haired Jerusalemite, who stumbled upon radio almost by chance. He was born and raised in Jerusalem, and after completing his military service in the IDF, he went to Harvard, where he received a B.A. in history and wrote a senior thesis about the Falash Mura in Ethiopia. He then received the Harvard-Cambridge Scholarship to do an M.Phil at Cambridge University (UK), where he read archeology and wrote about pig bones and the ethnogenesis of Judaism. After seven long years abroad he realized that he missed home, and subsequently returned to Jerusalem, where he completed a Ph.D. at the Hebrew University - a biography of the first Protestant missionary in Ethiopia. Mishy is an active social entrepreneur. Right after college he founded a Boston-based social networking startup that had projects in many countries around the world. His biggest passion, however, is his radio show Sipur Yisraeli (Israel Story), which is essentially an Israeli version of This American Life. Mishy conceived of the project and together with three childhood friends set off to make it a reality. To his delight, it took off, and today the show has hundreds of thousands of listeners in over 190 countries around the world. He lives in Jerusalem (and - temporarily - in Somerville, MA), with his wife Federica and their two dogs, Nomi and Golda.
