Nicky Arenberg lives in Santiago, Chile. He is a lawyer, specialized in Public Law. His involvement in the local Jewish community started in the Masorti Tnua Bet-El (a Jewish youth movement), where he was a madrich between 2005 and 2010, also serving in the movement management as rosh chinuch from 2008-2010 where he coordinated educational programs and activities. In 2011, he became a founding member of the Chilean Jewish Student Federation (FEJ Chile) where he currently serves as Secretary General and helps take the opinions, concerns and needs of the local Jewish youth to the communal institutional framework. Since 2011, Nicky has also been an active essayist and -currently- serves as part of the Editorial Board of El Diario Judio, a pluralistic digital and print platform for young Jews from Chile and around the globe to think, write and develop Jewish critical thinking and, ultimatelly, create a better society.
During his college years, Nicky was very involved with two institutions doing innovative work: The Chilean Jewish Student Federation and El Diario Judio. The Chilean Jewish Student Federation (FEJ) was created in 2011 to involve the traditionally absent Jewish youth in the Jewish communal policies and leadership and put them on the local political map. Similarly, FEJ’s mission is to give a voice to the opinions, concerns and needs of young Jews in Chile. El Diario Judio is a pluralistic, not politically or ideologically aligned digital media platform made for Jewish youth around the world to freely express their vision of the world.
