Nir, a forty-year-old father of two boys, Noam (6) and Ofek (10), lives in Sde Varburg. Nir grew up in military air force bases, the son of an IDF Air Force fighter pilot, and studied at Ginzburg-Yavne. After high school Nir served in the elite Shaldag unit, and then spent five years working for the Ministry of Defense as a personal body guard for five different prime ministers and presidents. In 2004 Nir started a production company called New Vision and in 2009 was hired as the COO for a large retail company (which owns popular brands such as Hoodies, Carolina Lemke, and Top Ten). In 2011, together with eight others, Nir founded Midburn, and is also one of the four official regional contacts for Burning Man in Israel. Nir believes the world runs on two main engines: inspiration and participation. He chose Midburn because he believes in communities that create meaningful influences both locally and globally. Nir's vision is to inspire others to live their dreams and to help create fields of inspiration that will lead to cultural, social, and artistic change. Nir believes that through programs like Midburn, differences of culture and mentality will narrow, and hearts will open and unite.
