Or was born and raised on Moshav Aseret in central Israel, where he was an active member of the Scouts youth movement. He spent eight years serving as an officer in the elit Sayeret Matcal unit. It was these years that instilled in him a deep appreciation of team work (a skill and a passion he had been aware of since his time in the Scouts), creative problem solving, and attention to detail in order to achieve big goals. Or is the founder of Selina, a chain of hostels that seeks to reinvent the travel experience, creating a community of global travellers that includes everyone from backpackers to business people. Selina currently has 12 locations in Panama, Costa Rica, and Colombia and is projected to open a total of 30 by 2018. In addition, for the last three years Or has spent his time building Venn, concieved as the first ever neighborhood operating system, with the goal of positively transforming urban life. Venn combines physical spaces in a defined geographical area together with a toolbox of services and support that they believe will enable its members to build a lifestyle of limitless growth. Venn lowers the cost of living in cities and fosters real community that can drive social change beyond its members and the neighborhood. Today 100+ members live in Venn Shapira (where many businesses and initiatives have launched), and development of the next Israeli neighborhood and neighborhoods in New York City and Berlin has begun.
