Philip Wolgin

Managing Director, Immigration, Center for American Progress (CAP)

Philip (Phil) Wolgin is a member of the Board of Directors of HIAS, the global Jewish refugee agency, and is the Managing Director of Immigration Policy at the progressive think tank the Center for American Progress. In each of his roles, Phil works to create the processes and structures to empower people to advocate for immigrant and refugee rights. Over the years Phil has played leading roles in efforts such as re-imagining HIAS' domestic refugee resettlement network, as well as the fights to protect Dreamers and children and families seeking asylum at the U.S. southern border. Phil holds a B.A. from New York University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in American History from the University of California, Berkeley. He lives in Washington, DC with his wife Lia, and son Henry. Outside of work Phil enjoys hiking, cooking, and exploring a newfound love of drawing.
