Robert is from Gdansk, Poland, where he was raised in a Polish Christian family. Like many young Jews in Poland he was not aware of or particularly invested in his Jewish heritage. After completing a degree in architecture from the University of Technology in Gdansk he went to Berlin for a five-month internship. This experience changed his view on heritage and identity, and on his return to Poland Robert began his Jewish journey. He went on a Taglit trip in 2014 and subsequently began to be active in projects and programs of the community, such as MiNYanim (where he was first a participant and then a coordinator for two years). He participated in Matara at Limmud UK, and has been the representative of Polish students at EUJS and WUJS, as well as in the AJC Global Forum in 2015. Most recently Robert has been involved in reestablishing Limud Poland after it transitioned from being a JDC-funded event to a fully volunteer-based organization. In addition to his activities in the Jewish community he also helps his girlfriend Betty Q plan events at Madame Q, a burlesque cocktail bar that is place free of prejudice and intolerance and serves as a platform for discussion about body positivity, LGBTQA+ community rights, and entertainment.
