Robert J. Saferstein is an interdisciplinary creative and entrepreneur. He harnesses media, design, and ritual, to craft experiences that impact and strengthen community, and develops multi-platform solutions that drive social good. Robert is currently the Director of Programming and Strategy for the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA). He previously served as Market Development Director (formerly Online Director and Editor) at Sh’ma Now hosted by the Forward, and Creative Director at Broadways Best Shows. Named to The Jewish Week’s “36 Under 36” and a multiple Natan Grant recipient, Robert is the founder of NYC's Friday Night Lights Events series of experiential Shabbat dinners for LGBTQ+ Jewish professionals, and Eighteen:22—a global network of Jewish LGBTQ+ and ally changemakers—as a Schusterman Connection Point in Salzburg, Austria. In 2017, Robert developed and launched JDC Entwine’s first-in-a-series of international experiences designed for LGBTQ+ participants. A graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Robert is a proud member of the ROI Community, a Hadar Institute Jewish Wisdom Fellow, and PresenTense Social Start Trainer alum. He is also an award-winning artist in the worlds of photography, film, music, and theatre — both on and off-Broadway.
