Roman was born in Moldova, emigrated to Germany at the age of 11, and currently lives in Munich, Germany. Roman has a Ph.D. from the University of Augsburg. Roman’s early years were challenging and active. Moving from village to city, advancing through the highly competitive German school system, competing in fencing and debating, and actively involved with the Jewish youth center, Roman was shaped by the people around him. He saw and felt the impact that positive role models and social engagement can have, in particular on young people. Since then it has been his wish to give back to the community. As a young adult he led machanot and tutored international students. Now, alongside his work commitments, he leads community projects in Munich. Roman is very interested in international exchange and feels that one of his more exciting experiences was a research stint that he did at Oxford University.
