Shimon G. Levy

Chief Operating Officer, Milwaukee Jewish Federation

Captain (Res.) Shimon G. Levy has been proudly calling Detroit home since Nov. 2014. In Detroit, he previously served as Principal at Secret Sauce Capital and the Senior Strategic Advisor at JFMD (Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit). His most recent venture, as the Managing Principal of Northend Capital, was acquired in Nov. 2018. In addition to being an enthusiastic entrepreneur and investor, he is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, overseeing the daily operations and major projects of a $200MM Foundation, $7MM annual Campaign, 60 team members, over 1MM Sq/Ft of RE supporting a community of approximately 30,000 people. In addition, he is the Chief Operating Officer  of Kids Kicking Cancer, a global organization with 7 global chapters supporting child pediatric patients through therapeutic Martial Arts Techniques to breath in the light and blow out the darkness.

Before coming to Michigan, Shimon founded the Student Led Trips Initiative, a project where top tier university students lead their peers on a thought provoking, multi-faceted journey to Israel. It has since merged into iTrek in 2015, developed into a well-financed initiative and in 2019 brought over 4,000 students to Israel. Shimon often consults, writes and speaks about entrepreneurship, Israel-Palestinian conflict, millennial engagement/ challenges and leadership.

Shimon attributes his passion for service to his parents’ life as diplomates and his personal experiences as an IDF combat naval officer and a former government official. His military career included diverse roles including Ship Commander, Squadron Commander, Ashdod Naval Base Major Project Director and Foreign Liaison.

Shimon is involved in numerous NGOs’ locally and globally that build communities, support Israel, peoplehood, and combat anti-Semitism. He loves people, traveling, and big ideas that impact. He is a proud graduate of the University of Haifa, IDC Herzliya and Harvard Kennedy School where he was fortunate to represent his class as the 2014 commencement speaker.

Though he is the recipient of numerous recognitions and awards, he was most recently recognized as Oakland County's, Elite 40 under 40 class of 2018 and the Jewish News 36 under 36 class of 2019.
