Steph Frenel
Steph is a Portfolio Manager on the Education Grantmaking where she supports the place-based portfolio.
Steph began her career in education in 2010 in Washington, DC where she co-founded a summer school program in DC Publics Schools while obtaining her undergraduate degree at Georgetown. After graduation, she became a 2012 Teacher for America corps member and taught first grade general education and special education in Brooklyn, NY for three years. In 2016, she transitioned to Rocketship Public Schools as an Assistant Principal and was promoted to Principal one year later. Steph has extensive experience in education technology and spearheaded her school’s successful transition to distance learning in March 2020.
Steph earned her bachelor’s degree in International Politics and Asian Studies from Georgetown University. She holds a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education and a Masters of Arts in Policy, Organization and Leadership Studies from Stanford University Graduate School of Education.
