Congratulations to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Alternate Prime Minister Yair Lapid on the formation of Israel’s new government. 

The historic governing coalition ratified by the Knesset (Israel’s parliament) includes eight political parties that together largely reflect the broad diversity of Israeli society. It is the first time that such an inclusive coalition of parties has governed together, and the first time an Arab party has joined the majority coalition. 

We hope the new coalition government will be focused on strengthening Israel as a secure homeland for the Jewish people and as a democratic state that ensures equal rights for all its citizens, building pathways for the different parts of Israel’s diverse society to live and thrive together. 

We also hope that while a negotiated two-state solution, with Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace, may be difficult to achieve in the near term, that the new Israeli coalition government, as well as the Palestinians, will support efforts to ensure it remains a viable option.
