Akiva was born in Jerusalem, Israel. He grew up in Ofra, a settlement in the West Bank, one of six children. At age 19, he joined the IDF as a military correspondant. After serving three years, Akiva started working for the Yediot Acharonot newspaper as a journalist writing about the West Bank and religious affairs. Akiva has covered major events including three military incursions into Gaza, too many terrorist attacks, and religious events (such as the death of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef z”l). One of Akiva's major interests is to bring the various factions in Israeli society closer together. To achieve this goal, Akiva writes articles presenting religous groups from new angles. Akiva lives in Jerusalem, near the famous Machane Yehuda Market. He is 26 years old and is currently in his third year of law school.
