ROI Community Update
Effective July 1, 2026, we will no longer run ROI Community. We close this chapter with deep gratitude for the colleagues and community members who shaped it. Read our full announcement.
Founded in 2006 by Lynn Schusterman, ROI Community* set out to answer a critical question: How do we cultivate a network of leaders who, together, can make an impact?
From the outset, ROI aimed to connect and mobilize the rising generation of innovative Jewish and Israeli changemakers to address complex challenges in Jewish communities, Israel and the world.
Over the course of 20 years, ROI grew to include 1,700 community members from 60+ countries. The philosophy was simple: when people are supported and connected across different cultures, professions and perspectives, leadership and strategic action emerges.
Effective July 1, 2026, ROI Community concluded its formal activities with deep gratitude for the members, colleagues, partners and collaborators who shaped this global network. ROI created the framework—but it was the members themselves who made it happen.

ROI Community brought together activists and artists, educators and entrepreneurs, policymakers, community builders, innovators and much more. What united them was not a single perspective or solution, but a shared sense of responsibility for the future of Jewish life, Israeli society and the communities they inhabit.
ROI invested directly in its members—their potential, ideas and willingness to take responsibility for the future. The underlying belief was simple: when people are supported and connected, they are better able to lead and drive change. Over time, this philosophy guided a leadership network into a global community that helped people connect and drive lasting change.
Connect
The network operated on the belief that relationships built through trust, reciprocity and shared experiences formed the foundation for action.
Create
From those connections came new ideas and initiatives designed to address emerging challenges facing Jewish communities, Israel and the broader world. Members were provided with resources to experiment and build together through participant-led gatherings, peer learning, microgrants and professional development.
Impact
Over the years, this network-driven approach supported thousands of collaborations, creative initiatives, professional opportunities, grassroots projects and long-term partnerships around the world.
At the core of ROI Community was the ROI Summit in Jerusalem—an annual five-day gathering of roughly 150 leaders.
Built on an "un-conference" model, the Summit swapped top-down lectures for participant-driven tools like Open Space technology, where attendees set the agenda and ran workshops based on their own real-world challenges.
By removing the pressure of traditional networking, the Summit allowed people to learn together, trade strategies, openly share failures and co-create new initiatives. This collaborative design proved vital in ROI Community's final years, particularly after October 7, as the network focused on helping members address community trauma, respond to real-time challenges and build long-term resilience.
ROI’s reach and impact speak to the success of the program and the talent and resolve of ROI Community members—a true return on our investment.
