Astar is a Program Officer within the Department of Welfare and Social Services, specializing in the prevention of child abuse. As part of her role, Astar will develop a strategy to be used in advancing the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
Astar has extensive experience working in non-profits in various fields. Prior to joining Schusterman Family Philanthropies, Astar was Director of Research, Development at Aluma, where she conducted research and developed a strategy in the contexts of social mobility for young people.
Prior to that, she worked in a variety of positions at the Rashi Foundation, the latter as Director of Social Innovation. At the Rashi Foundation, she dealt with research and development, characterization and construction of data-based tools providing insights to decision making.
Astar believes in the value of technological tools, research and data-based work for precise and beneficial social change. She holds a BA in Social Sciences from the Hebrew University in Israel and an MA from the University of Bonn in Germany.
